Leslie Capin, MD is the medical director of Cara Mia Medical Day Spa and Dermatology Associates of Colorado. Under Dr. Capin's expert leadership, Cara Mia Medical Day Spa  was voted "Top Spa" in Denver's 5280 magazine. The Denver Business Journal has also named Dr. Capin as "Business Woman of the Year for Healthcare." Dr. Capin believes in giving back to the community she lives and thrives in. She serves on numerous committees, boards and advisory councils, including the Dianna Price Fish Foundation board and the Genentech advisory council. She loves the outdoors, including swimming, biking and hiking -always with sunscreen!

ayne Eshelman - Spa Administrator

As manager of Cara Mia Medical Day Spa, Jayne Eshelman oversees all Cara Mia spa locations. Her business degree, computer skills and accounting background keep Cara Mia running smoothly and efficiently. Jayne was influential in setting up Cara Mia's Meridian location, paying close attention to the many details that ensure patients receive the ultimate in spa medical services and care. Jayne is available by email 24/7.

ila Orr, MSN, FNP-C

With more than six years of experience in dermatology, Lila Orr has extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of cosmetic dermatology and general dermatology for all ages. She joined Cara Mia Medical Day Spa and Dermatology Associates of Colorado in January 2001 and is now an expert in all the cosmetic procedures offered by the practice, including Botox, Restylane, sclerotherapy and numerous laser procedures.

Lila also heads up the study division of Cara Mia Medical Day Spa and Dermatology Associates of Colorado, overseeing all in-house pharmaceutical studies for the practice. She also serves as the trainer for Cara Mia´s nurses and mid-level staff. Lila has a bachelor´s degree in nursing and a master´s degree in nursing as a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) from Regis University. She also received her post-graduate certificate in dermatology from Regis University.

enise Adams, RN, BSN, DNC

Denise Adams started her 29-year nursing career in the operating room, where she managed nine lasers that were used in surgery. She has practiced cosmetic dermatology for more than 11 years, the last seven with Cara Mia Medical Day Spa. She performs all laser treatments at Cara Mia and helps train and educate new staff members in lasers. She also performs other aesthetic treatments - including Botox and fillers such as Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm and Scalpba - and is adept at sclerotherapy, DiamondTome treatments and deep chemical peels. Denise enjoys learning, lecturing, hiking, sailing, golf and getting her own treatments at Cara Mia.

aureen Dooley, RN, MA

Maureen Dooley is a Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Her education and talent in the field of cosmetic dermatology keep in step with the growth of the specialty. She has been injecting Botox and fillers since 1998, as well as performing chemical peels, microdermabrasion, sclerotherapy and laser hair removal.  Since then she has become expert in the injection of Restylane and Juvederm and is proficient in performing DiamondTome and all the laser and light treatments offered at Cara Mia including IPL, Cool Touch and Fraxel. Maureen received her RN diploma from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in New York City and her Master's Degree from Oakland University in Michigan. She is a member of the Dermatology Nurses Association and is certified by The Dermatology Nursing Certification Board (DNCB), a member of the American Board of Nursing Specialties.

na K. Stearns, BS, PMA

Ana Stearns graduated from Metro State College with her BS in 2003 and recieved her Cosmetician/Aesthetician Certification in 2005, the same year she joined Cara Mia Medical Day Spa. Ana is deeply committed to quality service and providing patients with the finest skin care products and treatments available. She has extensive training in clinical skin care and specializes in chemical peels, anti-aging procedures, DiamondTome, microdermabraision, laser light treatments (such as LED) for micro-pigmentation and fine lines, spray tanning with the new Sun FX, micro-current face lifts, Endermologie cellulite treatments, and acne therapies for both teens and adults. Ana can prescribe cosmetic treatments personalized to your individual skin-type needs with customized products to refine pores, hydrate and tone the skin, and reduce facial tension. Ana is also fully trained in the art of unwanted-hair removal for both men and women. She can consult and provide assistance with all of your personal and "professional" makeup needs for that perfect look for any special occaision. Ana was born and raised in Denver. As a Colorado native, she is a huge fan of the outdoors and enjoys skiing, hiking, camping and riding her Harley Davidson.



ail E. Bryce R.N. & Licensed Esthetician

In 1979 Gail started her nursing career at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colorado where she explored various areas of her field including Medical, Surgical, Emergency, Orthopedics and Pre Surgery Testing. She specialized in the Obstetrics field working in the Women's unit the last 15 years of her hopital employment. Her focus there was as a Mother/Baby  nurse and as an instructor teaching Newborn classes for expectant parents. Her hospital experience also included Women's health, GYN issues and the care of post surgical patients.
In 1996 Gail graduated from Toni & Guy Cosmetology School and became a Licensed Esthetician. After completing extensive training in Aesthetic Medicine, she started her practice as a "Nurse Injector" and "Paramedical Skin Care Specialist". She was instrumental in successfully launching one of the earliest Boulder Plastic Surgery Skin Care Centers.
The past 12 years Gail has concentrated her efforts in the asthetics industry using Botox, fillers, laser treatments and sharing her knowledge of skin care products. She is involved in continuing education to stay current with new products and treatments as they become available. She specializes in dermal fillers (Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra and collagen fillers) and Botox and makes it her goal to provide treatments in a professional and caring environment with minimal discomfort. She truly enjoys her job and caring for her patients. When Gail is not at work she enjoys bike riding, hiking, gardening and walking her dogs. Gail breeds and shows Havavese as a hobby and spends much of her time training and grooming her treasured companions. She has two sons who are her pride and joy and share her love for her animals. If time allows, Gail also loves to shop !


heodore J. Alkousakis

Theodore J. Alkousakis, MD recently joined Dermatology Associates of Colorado in July 2009, coming from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, which is renowned for its excellent clinical dermatology, surgery and dermatopathology training.  He graduated from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine with Highest Distinction (summa cum laude) in 2005 and went on to complete an Intern year in Internal Medicine at Olive View + UCLA Hospital in sunny California in 2006. 

Dr. Alkousakis has diverse interests in art, dancing, sports and the outdoors.  As an avid photographer and amateur painter from his undergraduate years at Stanford University, he was attracted to dermatology where patterns, colors and attention to detail are essential to good diagnostic skills.  His areas of interest include lasers, phototherapy, vitiligo, plants and creatures, and clinical-pathologic correlation.  While still a resident he presented at national meetings and reviewed articles for publication.  Dermatology, he says, “allows you to treat everything from cancers in the elderly and debilitating skin disease in adults, to diaper rashes in a baby”. 

Dr. Alkousakis is looking forward to hiking, skiing, snowboarding, biking, photographing and fishing in the beautiful Rockies and enjoying all that Colorado has to offer with his wife and two beautiful children

imberly Maino

Dr Kimberly Maino is a fellowship trained Mohs surgeon and board certified Dermatologist.  She graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1991.  On a Naval scholarship, she completed her MD at Medical University of South Carolina in 1995.  She completed a surgical internship at Portsmouth Naval Hospital from 1995-1996.  She was a Naval Flight surgeon until 2003 and was stationed with a Marine Corps helicopter squadron.  She completed her dermatology residency at the combined Walter Reed Army Hospital/National Naval Medical Center in 2003.  She stayed on staff at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda and was Assistant Program Director until 2006.  She was also a consultant to the White House and to the US Naval Academy.  She completed Mohs fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 2007.  She completed her Naval career at Naval Medical Center San Diego from 2007-2010.  She was Head, Procedural Dermatology and Cutaneous Oncology and resident surgical training syllabus.  Her father is a former Marine who has found a home in Colorado.  She has a 1 year old daughter and her husband is a family practitioner in Arvada.

eslie Capin, MD

Leslie Capin, MD is the founder of Dermatology Associates of Colorado and has been practicing dermatology for more than 22 years in the Denver area. She is a board-certified dermatologist and received her dermatology training and medical education from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Although Dr. Capin oversees and is medical director of Cara Mia Medical Day Spa, her true passion is general dermatology with a particular interest in rare skin disorders and the complex patient. Dr. Capin is also passionate about education, having started the nation's first Dermatological Nurse Practitioner training program at Regis University. She serves on numerous boards and advisory councils and spends one or two weekends per month lecturing across the country.

ames R. DeVito, MD, MHA

James R. DeVito, MD, MHA joined Dermatology Associates of Colorado in January 2005 and became a partner in July 2006. Previously, Dr. DeVito had a general dermatology and dermatologic surgery private practice in San Francisco from 2002 to 2004. While in San Francisco, Dr. DeVito was part of the clinical faculty in the department of dermatology at Stanford University Medical Center. He also worked as a staff dermatologist with The Permanente Medical Group Inc. in San Jose and Richmond, CA from 1999 to 2004. While in San Jose, Dr. DeVito served as an associate staff member in the department of medicine´s dermatology field for Santa Teresa Community Hospital.

Dr. DeVito participates in numerous professional societies and is active in both research and publishing in the dermatology field. He graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1995 and completed his dermatology residency at The New York Hospital - Cornell University Medical Center and Charity Hospital of New Orleans from 1995 to 1996. He earned his MHA in health administration at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 1995. Dr. DeVito received his bachelor's degree in biology and society with a minor in Portuguese from Cornell University in 1998.

radley K. Draper, MD, Ph.D., FAAD

Brad Draper, MD is a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon who joined Dermatology Associates of Colorado's medical staff in July 2006. Since Dr. Draper is an avid sports fan (especially baseball), it only makes sense to begin this bio with his statistics:

Dr. Draper is married with three sons: Skyler, Conner and Logan. His medical career began at St. Louis University, where he was awarded the title of MD with a Distinction in Research. He completed a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology at Vanderbuilt University in Nashville, TN.

Dr. Draper's clinical practice began at the National Naval Medical Center. After serving five years in the Navy, Dr. Draper attended a Dermatology Residency program at Vanderbuilt University, completed a Mohs surgical fellowship and ultimately was recruited to Dermatology Associates of Colorado.

When asked why he chose medicine and specifically dermatology, Dr. Draper explains that it really is about people. "Certainly, the practice of medicine is an exciting and intellectually challenging field, but it is really the interaction with people that appealed to me." As a Mohs surgeon, Dr. Draper has the opportunity to make a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of his patients, as well as connect with them in a more personal way. The diagnosis of skin cancer can be frightening, but with Dr. Draper, patients can be certain they are in well-trained, competent and skilled hands. Because Dr. Draper hand picks his staff, his patients experience surgical excellence in a compassionate, caring environment.

ila Orr, MSN, FNP-C

Lila Orr brings extensive knowledge and experience to Dermatology Associates of Colorado. She is the senior mid-level provider at Dermatology Associates of Colorado and Cara Mia Medical Day Spa. She divides her time equally between Dermatology Associates of Colorado and Cara Mia, overseeing pharmacological studies and patient care at Dermatology Associates of Colorado and laser and injectable training at Cara Mia. Lila also is one of only five students who completed a six-month course from Regis University, receiving a post-graduate certificate in dermatology training.
 

ary Jo Kohlruss

Mary Jo is a graduate of Colorado School of Healing Arts and brings seventeen years experience to Cara Mia. She is trained in Neuromuscular Therapy, Sports Massage, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Reflexology,Swedish Pre and Post Natal Massage, Hot Stone Treatment, and is a Reiki Practitioner. ennifer Straessle
Jennifer Straessle is the newest addition to Dermatology Associates of Colorado. Jennifer completed her undergraduate degree from Miami of Ohio in 2003 and then moved out to Colorado to explore her options for a career in medicine. After completing a year of research in the field of Oncology, Jennifer began her education in Physician Assistant studies at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Jennifer takes pride in her constant desire to learn and grow in the field of Dermatology. She is currently a member of the Society of Dermatology Physicians Assistants, Colorado Society of Dermatology Professionals, and the American Society of Physician Assistants.

Jennifer provides care for patients of all ages in the areas of general and surgical dermatology, while also assisting Dr. Leslie Capin with the Fraxel Re: pair laser and the Obagi Blue Peel.
