What Is Mole Mapping?
Mole mapping is a medical technique in which the experts at Cara Mia Medical Day Spa will map and catalogue the moles on your body in order to make sure that everyone of your moles is being properly monitored and observed. Digital pictures and images will be taken of each of your moles across your body and then will be securely stored in our database that only our medical professionals have access to.
Who Should Get Mole Mapping Done?
Noteveryone needs to get mole mapping done. In fact, unless you fit into one of the following categories, there is no real need for you to have mole mapping done. Primarily, mole mapping is used for individuals who have a personal history of melanoma or who have a family history of skin cancer. However, mole mapping should also be done on individuals who have:
- More than 50 moles
- Fair skin and light colored eyes
- A history of severe sunburn
- A mole larger than a nickel
- New or changing moles
- Moles with irregular shapes or uneven coloring
- A weakened immune system due to an organ transplant, cancer, chemotherapy or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
What is the Procedure Like?
It should be noted that mole mapping is a non-surgical, non-invasive, and pain-free procedure that is used to merely document the moles on your body in order to keep better track of them.
