Permanent makeup also known as micro- pigmentation, helps give back what time has taken away and saves you precious time you normally spend “putting on your face”. You can save countless hours in a single year that were formerly spent struggling to draw eyebrows evenly or eyeliner half-way straight…that’s a lot of extra free time!
Cara Mia Medical Day Spa is proud to have well trained, highly experienced Micro-Pigmentation artists, giving our patients in Aurora, Parker, Meridian, and Castle Rock the best experience available.
WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP/MICRO-PIGMENTATION?
Permanent makeup is the art and science of implanting color into your skin. It is putting the right color in the right place so you can look better naturally. Specialized instruments allow your micro-pigmentation professional to place color into the layer of the skin known as the dermis. Because the outermost layer of the skin, the epidermis, is always shedding and renewing itself, you are looking at the color through a thin veil of skin. When a procedure is completed, the color will appear darker than the final result. This is the result of the color being in BOTH the epidermis and the dermis The color in the top layer will flake off during the healing process, lightening the overall effect. It is a cosmetic invasive procedure that requires skill, experience, and cooperation with your permanent makeup professional.
MOST COMMON AREAS FOR PERMANENT MAKEUP
- Full Lips/Lip Liner
- Beauty Marks
- Freckles/Age Spots
- Stretch Marks
- Areola Restoration
- Birth Marks
IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?
We use a topical anesthetic as well as oral medication. Some people describe it as a “tingling” feeling. However, most people still experience some discomfort, especially for eye and lip procedures. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst pain, most patients are at a 3.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
The treatment takes about 1-3 hours but it depends upon the specific skin condition being treated and the professional opinion of your skin care provider.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECOVER?
Most patients will be mildly swollen, sensitive and lightly bruised for 1 to 2 days. You can usually go back to normal activities but would want to avoid submerging yourself in lakes, oceans, rivers or anything that could promote infection for at least 7 days.
HOW LONG WILL MY PERMANENT MAKEUP LAST?
Permanent makeup/micro-pigmentation lasts a long time but NOT forever. As you become accustomed to your new makeup it is not uncommon to want more. You will want to freshen up your new makeup every couple of years. The darker the color the longer it will stay unchanged in your skin. Natural delicate colors are often more vulnerable to the effects of sun, swimming and breakdown by the body’s natural response.
